BVLGARI---(1) Origin
Originally the founder of BVLGARI Sotirio Bulgaris made exquisite silver handcrafts at a small Greek town named Epirus. In the middle of the 19th century, Sotirio moved to Italy. To make a living, he opened a workshop in the Viadei Sistina Street and thus initiated the grand business of this world’s top brand. In 1905, Bulgaris moved the shop to Via Condotti Av. with the help of his two sons Giorgio and Costantino, which is held as the flagship shop of BVLGARI till today.
Before the era of the Sotirio Bulgaris, generations of the family lived on the production of silverware. After Sotirio Bulgaris’ creation of BVLGARI and his two sons’ continuous efforts, the product was no longer limited to silver. A large array of products were added in the list gradually, jewelry, diamond, watch, fragrance, scarf and other accessories, even porcelain products were included in the 21st century.
BVLGARI was most impressed as a jeweler, and its customers were mostly mature ladies and gentlemen. However, in recent years, it is committed to younger elements as well, more and more young people follow the trend to use their products. This may be attributed to their successful release of the tea series fragrances, which are inspired from the Oriental culture. All types of tea fragrances, no matter green tea, white tea, dark tea, yellow tea, blue tea or black tea, are closely pursued all over the world.
BVLGARI---(2) Style
In the early 20th century, the two brothers were deeply attracted by precious stones, jewelry and watches. After receiving relevant expertise training, gradually they took over the family business from their father and began to carefully build their jewelry Kingdom. The period followed the end of World War II marked an important turning point of BVLGARI styles. Early 20th century, in Europe the French style of the jewelry industry was the predominant style, which has strict rules in the jewelry themes and choices of materials. Costantino and Giorgio decided to shift away from the stubbornness and normalization of the French goldsmith school. Inspired by Greco-Roman Classicism, the Italian Renaissance and the 19th century Roman goldsmith school, they found a way of their own. To the 1940s, BVLGARI employed colors as the main essence of jewelry design. By using bases made out of different materials, BVLGARI was able to highlight the shining mixture colors of the stones, which was proved to be a big success. To collect as more types of color as possible, BVLGARI, for the first time, boldly used semi-precious stones like coral, amethyst, tourmaline, topaz and olivine etc. By the 1950s and the 1960s, BVLGARI’s innovative and fresh style had successfully attracted a large group of celebrities and movie stars.
