The history of Burberry （One）

1856, 21-year-old Thomas • Bubo Li opened a company called "Burberry (Burberry)" outdoor clothing in Basingstoke of Hampshire, England. Because of well-run in business, this store's has been increasingly prosperous. Until 1870, Burberry has become well-known local manufacturer of outdoor clothing shop, and even some famous athletes were also come here for shopping.

Thomas • Babo Li worked for a draper, he is very clever. In 1880, he made a use of a new weaving method, invented a waterproof, breathable, durable twill fabric, and obtained a patent in 1888. Babo Li opened his first shop in Haymarket of captain London, and now, this place is still the HQ of the Burberry Company.

In the end of 19th century, Burberry designed a kind of dust coat which named Tielocken for military officer; this kind of dust coat is also the rudiment of Burberry
Dust coat. In 1901, Burberry was commissioned by the British military officially, to design new uniforms for the British officers. At this point, the famous mark "knight on horseback" was available; Burberry Company registered it as a trademark.

In the first 10years of 20th century, Burberry started to expend its market and out of United Kingdom, set up their own stores in Paris and New York City.

In 1911, there was a thing shocked the world, "Burberry" as a brand become famous and be known by the whole world. This year, the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen • Colonel took 5 teams and become the first man who succeeded arrived at the South Pole and his equipment was supported by Burberry brand outdoor supplies and clothing. He left a Burberry damask canvas tent in South Pole; it shows that he had arrived here yet. After this arriving, A Irishman named Ernest Shackleton decided to first cross the Antarctic continent, and his team also use Burberry outdoor products.
During the First World War, Burberry continues to design uniforms for the British army. In 1924, Burberry registered another well-known mark: plaid pattern. The kind of plaid made up of red, white, black, and light brown plaid patterns, Burberry used it in the lining of dust coat, and later became almost synonymous with Burberry.
